Know Before You Go: Virginia Highland Farmers Market Operations & Visitor Info

If you’re planning a Sunday morning visit to the Virginia Highland Farmers Market (VHFM) at Highland Woodworking, here’s your go-to guide. From how to pay and where to park to whether you can bring your dog and how to become a vendor, we’ve rounded up everything you need to know to make the most of your market morning.

Payment Options: What’s Accepted

  • The Virginia Highland Farmers Market accepts both cash and cashless forms of payment.
  • At this time, the market does not accept EBT/SNAP benefits, though expanding payment options to include those programs is something the organizers are exploring for future seasons.

Parking: Plan Ahead for a Smooth Arrival

The market takes place at Highland Woodworking (1045 N. Highland Ave NE) every Sunday from 8:30–11:30 am. Street parking is available on surrounding streets, including North Highland Avenue, Virginia Avenue NE, and Lanier Boulevard. Because spaces can fill up quickly—especially on sunny fall mornings—it’s best to arrive early. Many visitors also choose to walk or bike from nearby neighborhoods, which is another great way to enjoy a relaxed start to your market day.

Dogs at the Market: What to Know

One of the best parts of a neighborhood farmers market is enjoying it with your four-legged friend, and at VHFM, well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome. There are a few important guidelines to keep in mind:

  • Dogs must remain on a leash and under control at all times.
  • Be mindful of other shoppers and dogs, and keep a respectful distance if needed.
  • Clean up after your pet promptly—waste stations are available nearby.
  • Avoid letting dogs jump on tables or approach vendor products.

These small steps help make the market a welcoming space for everyone, furry friends included.

Want to Become a Vendor? Here’s How

The Virginia Highland Farmers Market is always looking for passionate local growers, makers, and artisans to join its vendor lineup. If you’re interested in selling your goods, here’s how to get started:

  1. Review the vendor guidelines on the market website to make sure your products align with the market’s focus on local, high-quality goods.
  2. Submit an application online. A non-refundable $10 application fee is required at the time of submission.
  3. Once accepted, vendors pay a $45 weekly booth fee, or can opt into the full-season commitment at a reduced rate of $35 per week.
  4. Vendors must provide a clean 10×10 white tent and commit to maintaining professional, attractive booths.

The market also offers a Virginia Highland Farmer Grant, awarding $1,000 and waived booth fees to qualifying Georgia farms that commit to all 10 fall markets and offer at least four types of produce.
